2nd Quarter Final:- India Vs Defending champions Australia
This would be a classic Thursday, when the 2003 World Cup finalists take the field with semi-final places on their mind.Australia and India are both similar Line-ups and suffering similarly failing middle orders, and we will expect a very close match. The teams have met before this competition started in a practice game in Bengaluru, where India defeated Aussies convincingly.
In Motera pitch there would be some movement for seamers, turn for spinners, and runs for the batsmen. Therefore it is a good pitch for the Quarter Final Battle. Most of the team won the toss and batted first on this wicket because of the Hot weather.
In Australian side, Michael Clarke and Shane Watson are looking good and hungry for more runs, the seaming and fast bowling likes of Shaun Tait and Mitchell Johnson troubled batsmen through swing and movement, and Jason Krejza is also bowling good line and length. The AUS Captain didn't perform well in this WC yet therefore he is likely to use this opportunity to score some runs..
Strength:- Fielding,WC Experience,Fast Bowling
Weakness:- Middle order failure
In Indian Side Sachin and Shewag are performing really well by putting some good opening partnership.Yuvi is also good with his all-round performance. Kohli also have some runs under his belt.Yusuf is yet to score some runs.over all the Individual are looking good,If they all click at the same day no one can beat us...
Strength:- Batting,Spin bowling
Weakness:- Middle order failure,Fielding,Bouncers
Gary Kirsten's Strategies:-
- Get early wickets and put pressure on Aussies(especially Watson)
- Target Ricky Ponting because he had a good record against India
- Clarke and Hussey partnership is dangerous
- Restrict them to 260 or score above 320
- Watch out for deadly Bouncers
Players to watchout:-
Harbhajan Vs Ponting :- There is always a classic contest between Ricky and bhajji. Most of the time Bhajji won the contest.we will expect some words exchange between them...lets see who wins this time onwards..
Michael Hussey:- He didnt perform well yet but he is good player of spin bowing in the Aussie side..we will expect atleast a 50 from him let see how he plays this time...
Likely Teams:-
India: Virender Sehwag, Sachin Tendulkar, Gautam Gambhir, Virat Kohli, Yuvraj Singh, MS Dhoni, Yusuf Pathan, Harbhajan Singh, Ravichandran Ashwin, Zaheer Khan, Munaf Patel.
Australia: Shane Watson, Brad Haddin, Ricky Ponting, Michael Clarke, Michael Hussey, Cameron White, Steven Smith, Mitchell Johnson, Brett Lee, Jason Krejza, Shaun Tait.
