MS Dhoni the best finisher in world Cricket

It's not for nothing that MS Dhoni averages 104.8 in winning chases for India in ODIs. The 30-year-old knows when to go for the jugular and when to ease off. His effort on Sunday at Adelaide highlighted his skills as a finisher in ODIs. Here's a list of some big games in which Dhoni anchored the chase to perfection and took Indian past the line.

April 2, 2011: Mumbai, India vs Sri Lanka, World Cup Final, 91 Not Out In 79 Balls.

Throughout the World Cup, Dhoni had been a failure with the bat and on the biggest stage of all with the team needing 275 for victory, the captain chose to be counted. Promoting himself ahead of a red-hot Yuvraj Singh, Dhoni, first started off taking the ones and twos and waited for the early summer dew to settle on the ground. Once that happened, he set about his task of dismantling Murali, Malinga and Randiv and added a match-winning 109-run alliance with Gautam Gambhir for the fourth wicket. He sealed the issue with a six off his CSK teammate Kulasekara to send the country into delirium.

February 13, 2006: India vs Pak, Lahore: 72 not out in 46 balls.

MSD's stocks were already high following murderous ODI tons against Pakistan and Sri Lanka and a counter attacking Test ton at Faisalabad. But in the third ODI, he came into his own and with good friend Yuvraj Singh, added an unbroken 102 runs for the sixth wicket. To make mincemeat of the Pakistan bowling which had Umar Gul, Mohd Asif, Naved-ul-Hasan, Shahid Afridi and Razzaq, showed how big an influence he was on the team.

February 19, 2006: India vs Pakistan, Karachi, 77 not out in 56 balls.

India had already taken an unbeatable 3-1 lead in the five-match ODI series. But against Pakistan, every game is a final and at Karachi, India approached it with the intensity of a final. Promoted to No. 4 to score a few quick runs and bring the asking rate down (India were chasing 287), Dhoni first settled down and went on a six hitting spree to take the pressure off Yuvraj Singh, India's ace finisher till then, who scored a delightful, unbeaten 107. Little did we know that it was the passing over of the baton of the finisher's job.

April 2,2011: India vs Srilanka, Mumbai 91 not out 79 Balls

Dhoni, the world's highest-paid player, produced his best performance of the six-week-long event when it mattered most as India passed Sri Lanka's total of 274-6 with 10 balls of the allotted 50 overs to spare. He smashed the winning runs with a huge six over the boundary ropes to finish the innings unbeaten on 91 off only 79 balls faced.

Recently he scored  a brisk 50 and hit a crucial six to seal the game in Adelaide. From these stats it shows how important is MS Dhoni's contribution to the team.So we can proudly say "He is the best finisher in world cricket as of now"
