King Valthaty overcame SuperKings

It required a brilliant innings from Valthaty to make CSK suffer their first loss in the IPL season IV. 

Winning the toss, Kings XI skipper Adam Gilchrist put the visiting team to bat first. His decision was proved right when opening bowler Praveen kumar removed both Aniruddha & Raina in successive balls, CSK score board read 0/2. In came ever dependable Badrinath, he along with Murali Vijay steadied the ship. The duo added more than run a ball hundred ball partnership, before Vijay(74) was castled by Piyush Chawla. The partnership saw Vijay taking the aggressive role and Badri rotating strike with odd boundaries. CSK skipper Dhoni added a quick fire 40 odd with 19 balls. Badri reached his half century. Dhoni was the last man to be dismissed, yorked by Ryan Harris of the last ball of CSK innings. Inspite of early jolts CSK scoreboard after 20 overs read a formidable 188/4, which at that time seemed to be more than enough.

Not before Valthaty scripted a special innings to saw his team home. The youngster who was initially with the Rajasthan royals when given the oppurtunity to open the innings grabbed it with both hands. Inspite of not getting notable support from any of his team mates, he chose an aggressive role to reach his 100 with almost a  strike rate of 200. Not many times you see a player dominating in a partnership with Gilchrist, but this man over-scored his captain in the 50 run partnership they shared. Kings XI finished the match when Dinesh Karthik hit a six of Jakati in the first ball of the 20th over. Kings XI won the match with 5 balls to spare. Indeed a supreme effort to beat the champions.

It was a day when everything went against CSK or otherwise luck favored the Kings XI (not to take anything away from the blistering innings). Albie Morkel dropped Valthaty twice, seemed tough though but you got to hold them at international level, Dhoni put down a tough one, edges eluded slips, shots somehow found gaps but in the end it was Valthaty who beat the defending champions with his century.

All one can say his, it was a one off-day for the defending Champions, hope they'll bounce back & learn from their mistakes, which they've done well in the previous seasons.
