MS Dhoni not invited to Laxman's Party

There are doubts if things are smooth between VVS Laxman and the MS Dhoni. The latest episode of Laxman not inviting Dhoni for a party on Tuesday night has received more attention than even the first Test between India and New Zealand starting on Thursday.

Sachin Tendulkar, Gautam Gambhir, Virender Sehwag and Zaheer Khan were at Laxman’s place on Tuesday night but Dhoni was conspicuous by his absence. Asked on Wednesday if he had been invited to the dinner, the Indian skipper said a cryptic “No”. It is not known if Dhoni was again ‘unreachable’ to Laxman.

It all started when Laxman, while announcing his retirement last Saturday, had said, “I was trying to get in touch with MS, obviously it’s very difficult to reach him and everyone knows that.” Laxman said that in a lighter vein but one does not know if he meant it seriously. Sourav Ganguly added fuel to the fire by saying a captain should be available to his players 24x7.

“People who know me have always complained that I am someone who is difficult get to hold of. That’s the reason why Laxman couldn’t get through to me. It’s not something new. I am trying to improve,” Dhoni said on Wednesday.
